About Us

Community is important to Indian River Chapter members. We work to be sure the public is aware of the three objectives of the Daughters of the American Revolution:

Promotion of Education

  • Sponsors DAR American History Essay Contest in local schools for fifth to eighth grades, including home schooled children
  • Recognizes an outstanding graduating Junior ROTC cadet
  • Supports Labels for Education program
  • Participates in DAR Good Citizens program in two high schools

Patriotism

  • Participates in the Massing of the Colors each Veterans Day
  • Participates in special luncheon programs with Sons of the American Revolution and other patriotic lineage organizations
  • Supports local veterans
  • Participates in the Stamps for the Wounded Program
  • Contributes to Titusville’s Avenue of Flags

Historic Preservation

  • Indexes previously unpublished genealogy records for the DAR Library in Washington, D.C.
  • Participates in the Last Naval Battle of the American Revolution annual event
  • Assists prospective members and holds workshops in genealogyIRC DAR Events
